Kansas City-based ad network Adknowledge has acquired Super Rewards (aka KITN Media), which has developed a virtual currency monetization platform for online games and social networking applications. No financial terms were disclosed. Super Rewards boasts that it powers 1,000 social games, including five out of the six largest virtual currency applications on Facebook.
Vancouver-based Super Rewards has a monetization solution for any points or rewards based application or game running on any social network (Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Friendster) or virtual world or community. Super Rewards gives partners monetization iframes, after which Super Rewards will manage and optimize CPA monetization, including driving traffic. Super Rewards claims to micromanage the CPA offer optimization, ad targeting, marketing, billing and customer-service.
Adknowledge raised $48M in funding in 2006 from Technology Crossover Ventures. Adknowledge has been on a buying binge including acquiring MIVA, Cubics, Lookery, Mediarun, and Adonomics over the past two years. It will be interesting to see how on earth Adknowledge will be able to manage all those properties. We think its way too much for them to manage well.
